Abstract

Historically the spatial mobility of sugarcane cutters is a fundamental part of the sugarcane sector labor market in Brazil. In the vast bibliography about this mobility there is a small number of works based on theoretical perspectives of the migration studies. Furthermore, the majority of the approaches about internal migration in Brazil emphasize the rural-urban movements. Grounded on these questions, the present article searches the constitution of a conceptual discussion field for the analysis of the spatial mobility of sugarcane cutters. Starting from a bibliographical revision, a adaptation of theoretical perspectives originally directed to the international migration analysis is structured, in articulation with various studies about sugarcane cutters mobility. This way, an integration of macro and micro levels is established, based on assumptions of World-Systems, Migratory Network and New Economics theories.
