Abstract

This paper analyzes the distribution of urban and rural population in the municipalities of Western Region of Paraná State in Brazil (2000 and 2010). For this we used the indicators of regional analysis. The results showed that significant changes in the pattern of population concentration, towns that had a high concentration of rural households showed that lose dynamism, to the large cities. The municipalities of Cascavel, Foz do Iguaçu, Guaira, Medianeira, Santa Terezinha de Itaipu and Toledo cities, are the analysis demonstrated in all population concentration in urban areas and also the largest recipients of the population of nearby cities, given the current situation and development power of attraction and thus maintained their previous levels of analysis from the 1970s, with a high concentration of urban households.
