Abstract

The theme of this intervention is the territoriality of the accumulation process which took place in Brazil between the 1980s and 2000s from the point of view of its scientific and technological development. Indeed, it is intended to reveal the relationship between science and technology (S&T), the dynamics of economic development and socio-spatial inequalities. Thus, the main purpose is to examine the relationship between scientific and technological development, economic development and social development in Brazil in recent years. To this end, selected indicators of Brazilian development will be analyzed in order to check how they manifest themselves on the territory. The hypothesis is that the policies of S&T adopted in Brazil in recent years, as well as the performance of individuals and institutions that produce and consume S&T (and thus inform the adopted policies), influence the process of socioeconomic development and its geographical configuration.
