Abstract

the dynamic Brazilian agricultural productivity provided favorable performance of the sector. The mechanization of field, and the best performance of genetic products and processes enabled the country to a position of prominence in the international market. However, there are many reports that claim this process foster the disintegration of rural labor market in the country. Therefore, this article aims to analyze agricultural employment in the state of Bahia in the years 2001 to 2008. The data from the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) show that reduction occurred relative share of employment in agricultural employment generation in the state of Bahia. Additionally, the jobs have been targeted by labor male with an average age between 32.20 and 36.75 years, significant majority of employed nonwhite, average schooling very low, even with relative improvement between 2001 and 2008, followed by low average income of employed in agriculture, despite a context of relative improvement in the years to screen.
