In view of the current Brazilian political scenario and the expressive use of the internet as a vehicle for transmission of information, this article aims to analyze, through the indexicality, the constitution of Instagram publications of political theme with contrary socio-ideological positions. For this, two publications were selected from Instagram pages with the same theme, but with contrary political-ideological positions, in this case, the celebration of the bicentennial of Brazil's Independence, which occurred in the year 2021. The analysis and discussions occurred supported by the discursive studies on Indexicality in line with the contributions of Cesarino (2020) on digital and algorithmic populism and social networks, the studies of Blommaert (2020) on political mass communication and algorithmic relations and, finally, a reflection on the link between politics and digital media, as proposed by Maly (2020). The final considerations point to indexical aspects that mark both the polarity of positions and the power of digital populism in the online-offline space.
