Foundations of Environmental Education in the Face of Climate Change

Abstract

Environmental Education stands out as a cornerstone in building a resilient society in addressing climate change. It is an educational process, formal or non-formal, articulated and committed to sustainability and cooperation from all. Environmental Education privileges dialogue and interdisciplinary approaches across various fields of knowledge, fostering a more comprehensive and integrated view of the environmental and social issues that need to be addressed. In this context, a bibliographic and documentary research was conducted to analyze the role of Environmental Education in response to the challenges of climate change. The focus is on the historical context globally and in Brazil, as well as analyzing its presence in pedagogical projects in basic and higher education in the state of Paraná. Although present in curricula, it is observed that there is a lack of depth and continuity in the educational process to address the urgency and demand of environmental problems.
