Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the agronomic performance of maize off-season with foliar application of A. brasilense and broadcast application of N rates. The research was conducted at the Experimental Station of the MT Foundation (17° 09' S, 54° 45' W and altitude of 490 m) in Itiquira, MT, in the off-season of 2013, on a clayey Rhodic Haplustox. The experimental design was in randomized blocks with treatments in a 2 x 5 factorial arrangement (with and without the application of A. brasilense x broadcast application of N rates: 0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg ha-1, via urea). The applications of inoculant and N were done in the V5 stage. The sowing of hybrid DOW 2B587 Hx was held on 02/22/2013. Final plant population, prolificacy, stem diameter, plant height, thousand grain weight and grain yield were measured. The data were analyzed using the F test and regression equations were adjusted for N rates. The application of A. brasilense did not influence positively the maize performance. The increase in N rates resulted in a linear increase in the stem diameter and grain yield.
