Abstract

The work had for objective to evaluate the answer of two lettuce cultivars to different limestone doses. The experiment was conducted in vase in a protected atmosphere, in “Faculdade de Ciências Agronômicas UNESP”, Campus of Botucatu, SP. The totally randomized experimentaldesign was adopted, with five repetitions, following factorial scheme 2 x 4, two cultivars of lettuce (Veronica and Elisa) and four limestone doses (1.85, 3.17, 4.49 and 5.81 t ha-1). To the 47 days after the transplant, measures of intensity green coloration of the leaves (ICV), number of leaves and stem length, fresh fitomass and dry of the aerial part. Chemical analyses of the plants and soil were accomplished. There was no influence on of fresh fitomass and dry of the aerial part, stem length, number of leaves in a variation 50% to 73% in the V%, for the two cultivars studied. Elisa cultivar presented larger number of leaves, larger ICV and N, K, Mg, Cu, Mn and ZN absorption when compared to Crespa cultivar. The doses of limestone used affected the tenors of nutrients in the soil and in the absorption of these for the plants.
