Abstract

This paper undertakes um empirical examination of rates of return to education for men and women in Brazil thought the period of growing of schooling and percentage of people with higher education in Brazil, given by the expansion of places in public universities, as well as the significant increase in financing credit to private institutions and high increase in the number of scholarships increasing access to private institutions. We estimate returns to schooling at different quantilies of the conditional distribution of wages using quantile regression method using date of PNAD. The evidence suggests that are variations from the average return to education across the population by gender and by year. Males have higher return than women.  For the both groups the returns are highest at higher quantile. The returns are falling over the years especially for that at top of distribution.
