Abstract

The analysis focuses on an audiovisual performance crafted, edited, and presented by master's and doctoral students as part of a course in the Graduate Program in Literature at Unioeste - Cascavel in the year 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The performance was based on a school opera by Bertolt Brecht and incorporated intertextuality and transposition to reflect the historical context experienced by society at that time. The theoretical frameworks of Santiago (2018), Koudela (2008), and Berth (2019) were employed to analyse the opera, its scenic transposition, and the historical and social context portrayed in the performance. The alteration of the gender of one of the opera's characters proved to be a subversive act of resistance and encouragement for critical thinking in moments when social decisions need to be made.
