RETÓRICA DA METÁFORA EM REPORTAGENS SOBRE ECONOMIA: O VERBO EM FOCO

Resumo: Sob o olhar da Retórica e numa perspectiva cognitiva, objetivamos abordar o papel retórico de verbos e locuções verbais metaforizadas em reportagens sobre economia, extraídas das revistas IstoÉ – Dinheiro e Exame. A hipótese é a de que cumprem três estratégias retóricas integradas e complementares: condensação de analogias, transposição didática e criação estética – o tornar compreensível, acessível e interessante, respectivamente. Nessa dinâmica tridimensional, a metáfora verbal se constitui ponto crucial na produção discursiva: nela se inscreve a subjetividade do autor. Por essa razão, observa-se o seu uso como uma estratégia – recursos, no caso, da linguagem utilizados e pensados com vistas à persuasão. Ao mesmo tempo, constitui-se ponto crítico na interpretação: ela pressupõe as contribuições do leitor e dele exige competência e espírito críticos para desvelar o que nela se manifesta ou se esconde. Revela-se, portanto, que a metáfora, mais do que figura de linguagem, constitui um modo de pensar, representar e, quando presente em discursos persuasivos, modificar alguma realidade.
