Este artigo tematiza a efetividade dos direitos linguísticos. Tem-se como objetivo, alicerçado em reflexões em torno do campo interdisciplinar da Política Linguística, analisar tomadas de decisões judiciais envolvendo questões linguísticas que incidem e interferem no resultado de julgamentos. Nesse sentido, discute-se a efetividade dos direitos linguísticos. Para proceder à discussão, o trabalho foi realizado por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica e eletrônica, a partir das quais tecem-se considerações acerca do panorama de diversidade de línguas existente no Brasil e das políticas linguísticas internas do país, que incidem na perspectiva aqui defendida do respeito e promoção do multilinguismo. As análises e reflexões presentes no trabalho reiteram a importância e a necessidade de discussões em torno das ações de gestão de línguas na esfera jurídica, considerando que, em muitos casos, embora haja todo um conjunto de leis linguísticas e orientações nacionais e internacionais que versem sobre o tema, a questão dos direitos linguísticos ainda carece de discussão.
