Apesar de as histórias de horror acompanhar a humanidade desde os seus primórdios, a literatura desse gênero começou a ter destaque apenas a partir do século XVIII, e encontrou em Edgar Allan Poe um de seus principais expoentes no século seguinte. Considerado pela crítica um dos maiores escritores da Literatura Americana, Poe se destacou com contos e poemas com temáticas envolvendo medo, morte, mistério, e a apresentação do lado sombrio e obscuro do ser humano. Este artigo tem como objetivo principal apresentar as aproximações narrativas de dois dos mais célebres contos de horror de Edgar Allan Poe, The Black Cat e The Tell-Tale Heart, ambos publicados em 1843, nos quais os narradores descrevem de forma detalhada, e fria, como realizaram seus crimes. Para tanto, apresentamos algumas definições e características da Literatura de Horror (KING, 2012; LOVECRAFT, 1987), assim como um pouco sobre a biografia de Edgar Allan Poe, focando em fatos relevantes para a sua constituição como um dos principais escritores do gênero em todos os tempos.Downloads
