Abstract

The aim of the study was to analyze the implementation process of the school group in the city of Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Using documents accessed in collections of different archives, it sought to understand the early days of the institution's functioning between the 1930s and 1940s. The investigation is guided by the assumptions of Cultural History, using documentary analytical procedures: written, oral and ichnographic. The institutionalization of primary education, through graduate education, implied understanding the impacts of the implementation of this type of institution, knowledge and practices that, contextualized, make it possible to infer about the permanence and (dis)continuities in a region of Germanic colonization.
