Abstract

O artigo analisa seis narrativas publicadas no Jornal das Famílias no período de 1863 a 1878. As narrativas trazidas para o debate têm o enredo ambientado no interior brasileiro e, algumas delas, lembram ao leitor que a Literatura Brasileira só pode ser consolidada se os  literatos se debruçarem sobre as paisagens e os costumes das regiões interioranas. Acompanhando a busca pela construção de uma identidade brasileira, as narrativas aqui apresentadas possibilitam compreender que a tentativa de se construir uma Literatura Nacional marcou todo o século XIX e circulou entre os mais variados grupos e meios, inclusive no Jornal das Famílias, destinado ao público leitor feminino.
