Este artigo aborda as contribuições de Roquette Pinto na difusãoda rádio educativa, marcando a primeira iniciativa brasileira de mídia na educação. O discurso sobre mídia na educação foi uma das aspirações registradas no documento do Manifesto de 1932 como uma proposta para renovar a educação nacional. Nos ideais dos Pioneiros da Educação Nova, os recursos tecnológicos, como o cinema e o rádio na transmissão da informação e do conhecimento, seriam eficazes para o processo de democratização da cultura no Brasil. Atualmente, a utilização das mídias na educação e na formação de professores é um discurso presente no espaço escolar, que requer uma reflexão consistente sobre a atuação dos meios de comunicação na atividade docente.
