Abstract

This paper describes the development of an educational role-playing game, ViaCorpo (Travel Inside the Human Body). Its aim is to help the learning of human body phisiology. The game has been developed with children in mind and it is based on didactic books aimed at elementary and middle school children. The technology that helps its development is based on JAVA programming language, using the game engine JME (Java Monkey Engine). This game takes the student/player to a voyage inside the human body. Each phase is developed into one of these systems: digestive, respiratory, circulatory, nervous, excretory or reproductive. The students/players must solve challenges related to the script of the game, but to do it so, they have to obtain or use knowledge about physiology and various organs functions of each system.
