Abstract

This paper presents the analysis of a cellular automaton model, developed by other authors to simulate the spread of epidemics. The model should provide a starting point for the global simulation of the spreading of H1N1. However, the attempt of reproducing the original authors’ results have revealed some mathematical inconsistencies in the model, which seem to compromise the model’s direct application to computer simulations. This article presents the chosen model, reports the experiments and discusses those inconsistencies.
