REPERCUSSÃO E DIÁLOGO: PAULO FREIRE NA AOTEAROA/NOVA ZELÂNDIA

Este artigo trata sobre a presença e a significância das ideias de Paulo Freire na Aotearoa/Nova Zelândia. Partimos do contexto da viagem de Freire ao país em 1974 e relacionamos sua visita com o processo histórico mais amplo de reconhecimento do racismo como um dos legados da colonização do país. Em seguida, mapeamos a presença dos livros de Freire em universidades e bibliotecas públicas, discutindo o impacto da Pedagogia do Oprimido assim como a repercussão das ideias de Paulo Freire na experiência de alguns de seus leitores locais. Por fim, focamos no relacionamento entre o trabalho de Paulo Freire e a educação Māori, discutindo o conceito indígena de Ako e a importância do desenvolvimento de pedagogias culturalmente relevantes.
