Abstract

This paper discusses the relevance of both formal and non-formal education in formation of young people who are sometimes targeted by social violence imaginary. In the first part, it discusses concept and context for non-formal education in Brazil, especially, in São Paulo state, in some cities in Campinas area. In the second part, it discusses the informal education at urban and rural communities in Brazil. In the third part, it discusses why some characteristics of Young and Adult Education students’ discourses are similar in some cities of São Paulo state. It outlines relevant aspects concerning the age group of both school dropouts and those who return to the classrooms. Based on some speeches of Young and Adult Education students, this paper also analyzes problems that cause dropping out the school system and the problems faced by the students which return to their studies
