Abstract

This article aims at discussing possibilities and limitations of modeling activities in the context of the schools of the state of São Paulo, from the perspective of future teachers of Mathematics. Such activities are inspired by didactic materials mandatory in schools due to issues related to school policy of the state. The approach adopted is qualitative and data were produced in a course of supervised internship in a public university, through observations and interviews. The results indicate that future teachers understand that there are possibilities to work with modeling from the material of the state of São Paulo, but it also evidence limitations such as non-compliance with all the content, skills and abilities, as well as using only activities "more closed" of Modeling. Furthermore, this research is part of the effort to try to get around the São Paulo educational system, based on homogenization of Education in function of good performances in large-scale assessments.
