Abstract

The objective of this study is to reflect upon the importance of pedagogic development for university teachers, based on the results of PECD, a program carried out at UNICAMP from 1993 to 2000. Considering the theoretical concepts in the field, the analysis of PECD – which highlighted its history, the evaluation of its organization and the influence of the program in the pedagogic development of teaching practice students, the evaluation of its organization and the impact of its accomplishments at UNICAMP. The results of the analysis enable us to conclude that programs dedicated to offering pedagogic development for university teachers are necessary, achievable, and able to instigate more commitment to educational issues in those young or experienced teachers engaged in educational issues, a factor that is essential for the improvement of quality in undergraduation courses.
