Abstract

There have been important changes in the way of thinking and Management of education. Maybe the  change that has had the greatest impact in educational policy, has been the turn towards the change towards the measurement of achievement and it’s relation to standards. The purpose of this article is to show that if  what is wanted is to improve education, the adoption of a Standards Based approach is a wrong track. The article is organized into two parts. The first part presents 12 critical observations on Standard Based Reforms. The second part is a review of educational research on the subject.
