Abstract

Early smoking in adolescents is a public health problem. With an insidious onset, the frequency increases as these adolescents grow up and enter adulthood. New cigarettes, called Electronic Smoking Devices, have often been used by young people as a way to start smoking without often realizing how harmful it is to their health. The most important influences for experimentation and consequent habitual use of cigarettes and DEFs come from smoking friends and parents. Thus, the current research sought to collect information about early smoking in students (n = 274) aged between 10 to 17 years in a public school located in Western Paraná, aiming to serve as a warning to both school and parents about the topic addressed.
