Abstract

UNIOESTE has since 1997 maintained a Special Education program with the objective of achieving inclusive education in higher education. Present at the five university campuses, the Institutional Program of Actions Concerning People with Special Needs - PEE acts in articulation with the social movement of people with disabilities in the promotion and maintenance of accessibility for these people to enter higher education, concluding their formation. The continuing education of teachers and the development of extension and research projects in the area, with the dissemination of scientific knowledge, are also objectives and actions developed by PEE. Significant results have been achieved in these twenty years of existence, contributing to Basic Education, as far as teachers are concerned, and to the professionalization of graduates with disabilities.
