Abstract

Abstract: This article intends to carry out a review of the academic literature produced between the years 2011 and 2022 on the most representative studies of the meme textual genre from two frameworks a) as an object of analysis of the discourses that address socially marginalized groups b) as a resource didactic learning practices. Taking these criteria as a basis, 16 studies from different Brazilian universities. The studies show two major trends: 1) the still incipient panorama of academic production in the field of approaching the meme textual genre as a didactic resource for reader training in Basic Education and 2) the need to develop works that focus on the overlap between the memes, critical reading formation and political awareness.
