CHARACTERIZATION OF THE INTENTIONS OF TEACHER’S ACTIONS IN A SCIENCE CLASS IN ELEMENTARY EDUCATION FINAL YEARS

Abstract

In this article, we present the results of a research whose objective was to characterize the actions and intentions revealed by a teacher in a Science class of Elementary School Final Years. The data comprise two moments: recordings of face-to-face classes held in 2019 and interviews carried out in 2021. The analyzes refer to two episodes of the class, which provided information about the teacher's actions and corresponding objectives. The results obtained indicated, in the first analyzed episode, the actions: Presents examples from everyday life, Draws attention, Writes, Explains, Asks a specific question, Asks a generating question and Manages the class, which had the general objective of Teaching through Dialogue. In the second episode we find the following actions: Draws attention, Manages the class and Uses the textbook, with the aim of Teaching through the Book. In general, the results reveal that a wide variety of different actions can occur in a class, with some actions being repeated, mainly those related to class management
