Abstract

This work is linked to the project PhD in special education to which questions the process of education of people with disabilities in four coastal communities in Belém, Pará State, and yet, we seek to understand the various implications for this context. The purpose of this is to identify and verify the population of special education schools in the field in Pará and in riverine communities of Bethlehem - Pa. On the methodology, constitutes a qualitative study involving research technique as a semi-structured interview, photography and field diary. The collected and tabulated data are also provided through a system that enables Internet access to educational indicators from the Census database School aided by SPSS software ( Statistics Syntax Editor ) . As for the results highlight that there is a depletion of the students in the schools of the field with quantitative expression of students who lived and studied in the field in the city, there is a relative reduction of enrollment of students with disabilities as well as people who live and study in field; difficult working conditions of teachers who work with special education in the islands; vision of precariousness as a characteristic of the field, and consequently the islands, among others.
