Abstract

This article proposes a reflection on a statement in the speech of School Mathematics Education, regarding the importance of recreational activities such as games and play activities in math education. The intent of the study is to identify entanglements between these practices and the manufacture of the contemporary subject, especially through the educational institution. From the discourse analysis in Foucault's perspective, it sought to highlight the reasons attributed by the authors for the use of playfulness in math classes in the discourse of mathematics education, specifically in the annals of XI ENEM (National Meeting of Mathematics Education). Among the most frequent reasons is that the student must have a desire to learn math, that children need to learn with pleasure, and also the importance of student satisfaction in learning played. The utterances presented point to a possible dialogue between the playful practices and an aspect of contemporary society: consumerism.

Thus, the study proposes reflections that may contribute to the training of teachers, as discusses the discourse of mathematics education and some resonances in the constitution of subjects shaped by the society of consumers.
