Abstract

The performance of the manager in educational institutions has demanded from these professionals a necessary revision of their principles and procedures, considering the modifications that have occurred in the last decades in terms of political, legislation and social conquests at the national and international levels. Democratic management demands important redefinitions in the process of teaching development, in the area of needs and personal and professional requirements, besides pedagogical
and politico-social compromises, which are imposed on professionals in this field. These perspectives delineate a differentiated institution and the understanding that it may be consolidated as a space for learning and professional development. To face this challenge a new profile of an educational manager will be necessary, they will be responsible for the task of establishing a favourable atmosphere, so that the institutions of childhood education may be understood as privileged spaces of everyday development for the professionals who work in them.
