Abstract

The aim of this article is to offer reflections on some ties existing in the cultural construction process which are based on and intermediated by the language and the constitution of identity. To think about this movement in dialectic terms between macro and microsystems allows an amplified view of the mutual and continuous interferences. Understanding that our daily behavior and the language – texts and subtexts – used in our relationships contribute to reposition or resistance against the dominant ideology, we shall be able to realize our responsibility in the reality construction process. Thus, we may maintain the hegemonic values as well as construct other references which might originate conflicts and profound transformations in different contexts and in society. The fact that health and other professionals have authority and decision power over other people, frequently establishes an asymmetric relationship - professional/patient-client. Health professionals (and others) have to be aware of their great responsibility in either encourage or discourage patients self-esteem as well as possibly persuading them or even make them enthusiastic about treatments, or discourage them to continue an already started treatment. In he search for autonomy we should analyze the different perspectives of our self-knowledge, he elements which interfere in our own personal and in the constitution of others, reflections on the choosing process, perception of the responsibility of either preserving or altering the normal order of things; we should question the naturalness of values, attitudes and conceptions.
