Abstract

This article aims to promote reflection on the English teacher’s education, in the Age of Digital Communication Technologies. Firstly, we do considerations about English as a global language, as well as its influence in the people’s identity. Afterwards, the variety of language conceptions that have had influenced foreign language teaching and, hence, the citizenship comprehension are contemplated. Whereas the English teaching as a possibility to promote change, we seek support on the Post-Structuralism studies and the Critical Literacy to shape our view, whereby we believe  these conceptions can promote  the social and cultural education to the subject, allowing any individual to think, ask, express opinions and act according to him/her reality. Finally, we consider that possible changes in the foreign language teaching learning undergo by teacher’s education and awareness.
