Abstract

When St. Augustine was a manichean made the claim of denial of pleasure and procreation, then became a catholic when he became champion of the assertion of procreation and the denial of pleasure. After converting to Catholicism, Augustine that emerges seems to be another quite different than outside, and becomes irreducibly bachelor and apologist of virginity. Few loved both women loved St. Augustine. Hence the inevitable question: why is St. Augustine who had so loved women, of them away?
