Abstract

From 2008 sociology was renumbered as a compulsory subject in all grades of high school in Brazil , generating a debate that was being promoted at least since the publication of the LDB in 1996, and accompanied by the reintroduction campaigns of discipline in the school curriculum. This science was relegated to a knowledge that should be taught in a "interdisciplinary" way in other disciplines, according to the National Curriculum Guidelines for High School that was published in 1998, which in practice meant the denial of space this subject in the curriculum with publication of new guidelines in 2012 the place of that science in school shall be changed at least in regards to how it is perceived by official documents. We aim in this article is to reflect about this new scenario, considering the place of sociology in the context created by the new DCNEM. Stands out in these guidelines the recognition of the relevance of the disciplinary aspect, and the existence of a common national database linked to a diverse part, which shows extremely relevant to the current debate on the Teaching of Sociology in Basic Education .
