Teachers training courses meeting: a possible way for integrating university teacher training courses

Abstract

The teacher training courses at the Western Paraná State University (UNIOESTE), campus Foz do Iguaçu, aims at preparing students to act as teachers in different areas of knowledge such as Nursing, Mathematics, Letras (School of Language and Literature), and Pedagogy. Among the diferent training actions offered by these courses, the Supervised Internship allows students to observe, apply, teach and elaborate teaching projects. This action also allows students to live primordial experiences to become a teacher. These students´ acting scenarios are Basic Education schools (Elementary, Middle and High Schools, Professional Courses), maintained by the  County and State Government,  and, in the case of Nursing, the acting scenario is also Private Professional Schools. Considering an integrated action among these different teacher training courses as a means of discussing and reflecting on problems related to the process of producing and socializing knowledge, the local members of the Center for Teacher Training and Teaching Practice (Núcleo de Formação Docente e Prática de Ensino - NUFOPE) and other interested parties promoted the I Teacher Training Course Meeting at UNIOESTE – Foz do Iguaçu which aimed at reporting and sharing experiences and practices occurred in these teacher training courses. The meeting allowed reflections on teacher training achievements and challenges  in a triple border county as Foz do Iguaçu, contributing to an effective academic-professional experience which may lead to a transformative teaching practice in the region.
