Abstract

This research aimed at presenting the analyses obtained from discussions regarding principles and conceptions conferred to Early Childhood Education in the preliminary document of the National Curricular Common Base (NCCB), whose first version was available in September 2015. It problematizes the conceptions of childhood, child and curricular organization for this moment of Basic Education. Thus, there is an issue about the relationship between the curricular components of Early Childhood Education associated to the NCCB and childhood conception. Those analyses are based on discussions held at Western Paraná State University (Unioeste), during the VII Forum of Graduation Courses, in 2016. This Forum occurs annually and involves the 19 undergraduate courses of Unioeste. The theme addressed in 2016 was "NCCB: collective dialogues, commitments for Basic Education consolidation". The Forum's working groups purposed to analyze the NCCB document in several fields concerning Basic Education knowledge. The Early Childhood Education, as the first stage of Basic Education, is part of the NCCB, however, it comes as a specific chapter, detached from the content of knowledge areas. Such curricular organization evidences the fragmentation between the stages of Basic Education, disregarding the principle of continuity, which is inherent to any curricular project. Thus, it highlights such discussion by taking as references Historical-Cultural Theory and the conceptions about childhood, development and Early Childhood Education.
